A movie Good Year (2006) was shot in this region. Probably Ridley Scott liked this calming atmosphere and therefore he bought a house in Lurmaren. In the town lived the famous writers Albert Camus (1913-1960) and Henri Bosco (1888 - 1976), both buried in the local cemetery.
The town is small, you can go around in half an hour. The houses were built mainly in the 18th century.
There is also a Renaissance castle of the 15th century In Lurmaren (Château de Lourmarin). It can be visited. Was built by the D'Agoult family, who came to a deserted city after the plague and brought it back to life.
It's always fun to look at old map. When many territories simply did not exist.
