Normandy and Brittany (9 days itinerary)

Our 9-day route along the Normandy and Brittany by car. The total mileage of 2000 kilometers. Roads are excellent, there are toll highways.

In the summer season prepare for problems with parking. Look for hotels with private parking.

Day 1 - Chateau Gaillard castle, Honfleur
Day 2 - Honfleur, Deauville and Trouville, Etretat
Day 3 - Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery, Cape Pointe du Grouin du Sud, Saint-Malo
Day 4 - Saint-Malo, Dinan, Mont Saint Michel
Day 5 - Fort la Latte, Cape Frehel, Ploumanach
Day 6 - Ploumanach, Vannes, Nantes
Day 7 - Nantes
Day 8 - Vitre, Mont Saint Michel
Day 9 - Fougeres

Day 1 - Chateau Gaillard castle, Honfleur

Arrived in Paris and rented a car at the airport. Then headed to the north and stopped at a small town of Les Andelys, where visited Château Gaillard Castle.


Then we went to Honfleur, where stayed for two nights.

Day 2 - Honfleur, Deauville and Trouville, Etretat

In the morning visited Deauville and Trouville


After lunch returned back to Honfleur and rested. Later in the afternoon went to Etretat. On the way we crossed the Normandy bridge. Right behind the payment toll is a parking lot and an observation deck.




In Etretat we strolled till the sunset.

Day 3 - Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery, Cape Pointe du Grouin du Sud, Saint-Malo

In the morning went in the direction of Saint-Malo with a few stops along the way. Walk at Omaha Beach and visited the American Cemetery.




Then we stopped in one little-known place - cape with views of Mont Saint Michel.


Next we went to Saint-Malo, where walked through the city and watched the beautiful sunset.


In Saint Malo we spent two nights.

Day 4 - Saint-Malo, Dinan, Mont Saint Michel

Visited Dinan.


On the way back stopped at the city park


In the afternoon walked around the city and relaxed on the beach.


Later in the afternoon we went to Mont Saint Michel, where walked outside the abbey.




Day 5 - Fort la Latte, Cape Frehel, Ploumanach 

In the morning watched beautiful sunrise.


Then headed in the direction of Saint Guirec. On the way stopped at Fort la Latte and Cape Freel.




Arrived at the beach of Saint Guirec, where we had booked a hotel for one night. Walked a little near the hotel.


Day 6 - Ploumanach, Vannes, Nantes

The morning was foggy. We visited the main attraction of the region - the red boulders on the Ploumanach beach.


Then went to Nantes. Nantes is located in the Pays de la Loire region, but we wanted to visit at least one big city in northern France. On the way stopped in Vannes.


In Nantes settled and walked around the city.


We spent two nights in Nantes.

Day 7 - Nantes

The whole day were walking around the city.




Day 8 - Vitre, Mont Saint Michel

In the morning watched the mechanical elephant and ride on the carousel.


Then we went in the direction of Mont Saint Michel and stopped in Vitre.


We had booked a hotel on the territory of the abbey Mont Saint Michel. Therefore, we settled and went for a walk around the walls until the tide.


In the evening watched high tide.


Also visited an observation deck at the dam.


Day 9 - Fougeres

In the morning went to Fougeres.


Next was the long journey to Paris (440 km).
