This installation first appeared in 1988, when the choreographer Reijo Kela made it during one of the dance festivals. Scarecrows were symbolizing all the unemployed in the region, about 900 people. In 1994, the installation was taken to Helsinki to represent the Kainuu region there. In the same year it was installed at the current location.
Initially, the author did not plan that the art object will last so long, because it stands in the open air. But it so happened that people began to bring their old clothes and now scarecrows get it twice a year. "Heads" are changed once a year.
There is a cafe of local cuisine near the installation, we recommend. Actually, we stopped here for lunch.
