Frederiksborg Castle is located in the town of Hillerød. It was built for King Christian IV and now operates as a museum of national history.
The first castle appeared here in 1560. For nearly 200 years (from 1671 to 1840) all Danish monarchs were crowned in the castle's chapel. After a fire in 1859, the castle remained in ruins and received its modern look in 1882.
The castle is very picturesque. It is located on an island and is surrounded by water. In 30-40 minutes you can get around the lake and see the castle from all sides. Since the national museum is located inside, we recommend that you visit it.
