Sambir is a small ancient town in the Lviv region. Until a few years ago, we were confident that a typical old market square with town hall existed only in Lviv. But after we began to visit small towns in western Ukraine, we realized that we were wrong.
Sambir preserved urban structure of the 17th century. Despite the fact that the architecture was severely damaged during the Russian (World War I) and German occupation (World War II), small beautiful houses remained in the downtown and it's nice to walk around.
In 2012, a tourist center appeared in Sambir, there are also guided tours to the Town Hall.
Getting there: Sambir has a train station, we reached it by the Kyiv - Truskavets train. There are also minibuses from Lviv (the bus station is near the train station) and from Drohobych, though the roads are terrible.
