Kirovohrad (Yelisavetgrad before 1924) is located in the heart of Ukraine. There's even the sign "Geographical Center of the Country" in the Dobrovelychkivka village not far from the city.
It's pleasant to walk along the Dvortsova (Palace) Street, on the waterfront of the Inhul river and in the arboretum. There are beautiful plates with descriptions near each interesting object. The plates, as well as many other things, are part of the large project "Creative City Yelisavetgrad", which awards grants on a monthly basis for implementation of interesting ideas. We were in many cities and countries and saw similar things, but Kirovohrad surprised us. Unfortunately, the text is only in Ukrainian.

You should start your visit to the city from the Dvortsova Street and adjacent streets. The former name is Lenin Street, but there is only one Lenin there and a lot of old buildings, so the leader of the world proletariate loses here :)

You can also walk along a small waterfront near the Inhul river on both sides of the 50 Years of October Avenue.

The newest attraction of the city is the arboretum (dendropark). This is a large park with lots of flowers, beautiful compositions, amusement and a small zoo. 150,000 tulips are planted in the park in spring. At the moment there is a plan to build a water park here.
