In 2011, Historical and Memorial Complex in memory of victims of fascism was founded on the site of the former Third Reich headquarters "Werwolf". A good work was done, appeared a modern pavilion for exhibitions, as well as information boards with historical photographs.

Buy at the entrance informational brochure ($0.2) with a map and it will be enough for the walking tour.

After the attack on the Soviet Union, the Germans during one month completely occupied the whole territory of modern Vinnytsia region. Occupation lasted for 2 years and 8 months, more than 200,000 civilians were killed during this period of time. The construction of "Werwolf" began at the end of 1941, and in 6 month appeared a small town with 81 wooden houses, three bunkers, post office, hotel, casino, pool, power station. Enterprises of Vinnitsa provided HQ with all the necessary.

The most of the HQ not preserved, it was blown up by the Germans during the retreat. According to some studies there are some underground facilities that still exist. There are  many rumors about that.

Adolf Hitler visited this place a few times and have lived here for about four and a half months, more than at any other HQ of the Third Reich. There are remains of his house and personal bunker in the complex. Also here worked the whole top of the Third Reich: personal secretary Bormann, Reichsführer Himmler, Reichsmarschall Goering and others.

There are all the necessary information on the boards along the walking trail, provided on the Ukrainian and English languages.

Near the territory of the complex there is a separate museum with the cars and things from the Second World War, but we did not visit it.

Getting there: There is a minibus from the square in front of the railway station in Vinnytsia to the Strizhavka village. Ask the driver to stop at the turn to the "Werwolf", there are signs to the complex, and then continue on foot about 15 minutes.
